● Sustainability in Food Value Chains (Coop Research Program, Call 5): The World Food System Center invites the submission of proposals for the Coop Research Program, “Sustainability in Food Value Chains”. The ETH Zurich – Coop Research Program has been established to support research that addresses challenges and opportunities for sustainability in food value chains. The program aims to provide the knowledge necessary to drive food value chains, in the short and long term, towards goals of quality and quantity that support human and environmental health and create value for all stakeholders. The five-year program is structured around annual calls that will fund postdoctoral projects (one to two year duration).

The five themes covered in this call are as follows:
     ● Theme 1: Sustainable Intensification
     ● Theme 2: Diversity in Food Systems
     ● Theme 3: Food Product Improvement and Value Chain Optimization
     ● Theme 4: Sustainable Proteins
     ● Theme 5: System Approaches
● Organic Production Systems for Food Security (Mercator Research Program, Call 7): The World Food System Center invites the submission of proposals for the Mercator Research Program, “Organic Production Systems for Food Security”.
This program aims to explore the role and potential of organic agriculture (certified or non-certified) to contribute to global food security. The ten-year program is structured around annual calls that fund between two and three PhD projects per year.
● Project proposals will be accepted under this call for projects that explore the role and potential of organic production systems (certified or non-certified) to contribute to global food security.

Deadline: The deadline for submitting proposals is the same each year for all calls and programs: 1 November, 17.00 CET.

Funding limit:
● Sustainability in Food Value Chains (Coop Research Program, Call 5): The five-year program is structured around annual calls that will fund postdoctoral projects (one to two year duration), with a maximum budget of 270’000 CHF per project. The budget for projects submitted to this call should be between 100’000 CHF and 270’000 CHF.
● Organic Production Systems for Food Security (Mercator Research Program, Call 7): The funding available for this call is not fixed, however a maximum of two projects can be supported in this call. Should your project be selected the full project funding will be distributed upfront.

● 
Sustainability in Food Value Chains (Coop Research Program, Call 5): To be eligible to submit to this call, the following eligibility criteria must be fulfilled:
● The project must be co-submitted by at least two researchers from different disciplines (i.e. one Principal Investigator plus at least one co-applicant).
● The Principal Investigator must be a member of the World Food System Center; please note – when a Professor is a member of the WFSC then all researchers in that group are also members.
● Co-applicants may be from the ETH Zurich, Eawag or any other research institution in Switzerland or abroad.
● Projects submitted to this call will only be considered if they fit to one (or more) of the “Call Themes” or “Call Topics” outlined in the Appendix of the Call for Proposals.
