● The Karel Styblo Public Health Prize: The Karel Styblo Public Health Prize acknowledges a health worker or a community organisation for contributions to tuberculosis control over a period of 10 years or more. This prize is named in honour of Dr Karel Styblo, Director of Scientific Activities at The Union from 1979 to 1991, who played a central role in developing The Union TB control model that was later branded by WHO as DOTS (directly observed treatment, short course).
● The Union Scientific Prize: The Union Scientific Prize acknowledges researchers at any stage of their career for work in lung health published in the past five years.
● The Union Young Investigator Prize: The Union Young Investigator Prize was established in 2011 to acknowledge a researcher for work in lung health published in the past five years, when age 35 year or younger.
● The Stephen Lawn TB-HIV Research Leadership Prize: The Stephen Lawn TB-HIV Research Leadership Prize: The Research Leadership Prize, as part of the Fund, is for innovative research on tuberculosis and HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, and acknowledges young researchers conducting promising work focused on reducing the disease burden of TB and HIV/AIDS in Africa.
● The Union Medal (for members only): The Union Medal, The Union’s highest honour, is awarded to members who have made an outstanding contribution to the control of tuberculosis or lung health by their scientific work and/or actions in the field.
● Honorary membership (for members only): The title of Honorary Member of The Union is granted to a person who has become distinguished through active participation in The Union’s activities and the fulfillment of its goals. These members serve as informal advisors to The Union.

The Karel Styblo Public Health Prize: The award is presented at the Union World Conference on Lung Health and consists of a full fellowship to attend the conference (including full delegate badge, travel, accommodation and per diem), US$ 2,000 and a certificate.
The Union Scientific Prize: The award is presented at the Union World Conference on Lung Health and consists of a full fellowship to attend the conference (including full delegate badge, travel, accommodation and per diem), US$ 2,000 and a certificate.
The Union Young Investigator Prize: The award is presented at the Union World Conference on Lung Health and consists of a full fellowship to attend the conference (including full delegate badge, travel, accommodation and per diem), US$ 2,000 and a certificate.
The Prize will be presented annually at the Union World Conference on Lung Health and consists of:
● A full fellowship to attend the conference (including full delegate badge, travel, accommodation and per diem).
● An award of GBP 1,000, and a certificate.
● A profile/news item by The Lancet.
● An invitation to attend the Stephen Lawn Memorial Lecture in March of the next year (alternating London and Cape Town) with an opportunity for the winner to present their work in a seminar, and network with colleagues.
● The Union Medal (for members only): The Union Medal, The Union’s highest honor, is awarded to members who have made an outstanding contribution to the control of tuberculosis or lung health by their scientific work and/or actions in the field. The Medal is presented during the Inaugural session at the World Conference on Lung Health.
● Honorary membership (for members only): The title of Honorary Member of The Union is granted to a person who has become distinguished through active participation in The Union’s activities and the fulfillment of its goals. These members serve as informal advisors to The Union.
