Donor Name: Prime minister’s office, Finland
Award name: International gender Equality prize, 2017
Award brief: The Prize has been established as a decision of the Finnish government in connection with Finland’s 100th anniversary. The award is apolitical by nature, and granted by the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland based on a recommendation by an independent prize committee. The Prime Minister’s Office of Finland appoints the prize committee that selects the winner, then a member of the government will present the prize to the recipient later this year.
They want to make sure that the prize benefits the women and girls who need our help the most, so we are asking the winner to choose an Official Development Agency (ODA) eligible cause or project for the allocation of the prize money.
The prize will be awarded to a distinguished defender and builder of equality. The recipient will identify a cause, an innovative endeavor or action to which prize money will be granted. This year the prize value is €150,000.
There are many organizations and individuals making important strides in the advancement of gender equality around the world. The hope is that this prize will help by providing additional support and a new platform for the game changers in gender equality.
