The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC): Inviting Applications to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations – in particular community based organizations – to address HIV prevention, treatment, care and support among people who inject drugs and people in prisons.

Funding brief: This Call for Proposals seeks to provide funding support to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) including Community Based Organisations (CBOs) working in the area of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support among people who inject drugs and people in prisons whose projects are aimed at building capacity of national partners. Community-based organisations are particularly encouraged to apply as the Call is aimed at helping to ensure that people who use drugs and people in prison will receive higher quality HIV services that are better tailored to their needs.

The Grant funding under this Call for Proposals shall be provided under the following categories:
● Category 1: Building capacity of the civil society organizations, in particular community-based organisations, in implementation of HIV services and programs
● Category 2: Building capacity of the civil society organizations, in particular community-based organisations, in results-based program management and leadership
● Category 3: Building capacity of the civil society organizations, in particular community-based organisations, in developing sustainable partnerships with government stakeholders and local partners

Budget limit: Any grant awarded under this Grants programme will be for a maximum of USD 30,000. Every grant over USD 10,000 will be dispersed in more than one instalment based on the cash flow requirement of the proposal.

Project start date: May 01, 2017

Project duration: All activities financed by this Grants programme must be implemented by December 01, 2017.

Eligible organization: As below

Eligibility: Only bona fide institutions will be considered (not commercial operations). A copy of the governmental registration document of the institution should be attached to the application to document that the organization works on a not-for-profit basis.

Applicants should be organizations or institutions who can demonstrate prior experience in implementing activities in the area of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support among people who use drugs and in prisons. Furthermore, applicants should be able to demonstrate they have the needed capability to administer the grant.

In order to be eligible for a Grant, applicants must:
● be a non-profit making organisation (CSOs including, CBOs) registered under the relevant Laws of the country where it is registered;
● have been registered not less than three (3) years;
● be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project, i.e. not acting as an intermediary;|
● demonstrate prior experience of at least three years in the area of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support among people who use drugs or for people in prison.
● have an international reach (regional or global);
● have a bank account;
● Proven experience in capacity building initiatives.

All applications must be in English. Applications must be submitted by email to: aids@unodc.org marked HIV Grants for Civil Society Organizations 2017 in the subject.

Documents to be submitted on application: The following documents must be submitted as part of the full project proposal application:

● Registration certificate;
● 
Budget (template provided);
● Financial statements for the last 2 years (or audit reports where available);
